Brainwashed by pro-anorexic websites

Erin's story appeared in Top of the Pops magazine

Erin Wade got in touch with us as she wanted to share her story of how pro-anorexic sites nearly killed her.

Erin was just 13 when she went online for advice on losing weight, and she quickly found herself sucked into the world of pro-ana sites, where young girls share weight loss tips and post photos of themselves looking shockingly thin to inspire others.

Erin’s addiction spiralled from there, and she soon found herself living on a diet of just soup and water – at one point she weighed just five and half stone and was close to death.

But after a spell in hospital, during which she was force-fed through a tube, Erin realised that she would die if she didn’t try to get better. With the support of her family and friends she embarked on the slow road to recovery. Erin is now a healthy weight and feels strong enough to share her story, which appears in Top of the Pops magazine.
